New Format! All Hail the Nidhogg!

Moron Town

Hello to all... two of our followers. Clearly the subliminal brainwashing isn't working. Well, the truth is that I'm highly distractable. Sorry.

I will be trying something newish. Like actually blogging for a change. Mondays will follow the previous format, just to keep everyone up to date.Thursdaysare going to be different. Im going to actually spend time analyzing games. It'll focus on three main areas.

1. Playability

How hard is it for an absolute moron to play? What are the mechanics like?

For example, lets look at Nidhogg. This game was fairly confusing at first, we weren't sure who was playing which color and I never quite got the hang of figuring out when it was more expedient to charge accross the screen or fight my opponent. The controls were easy though, almost button-mashy.

2. Immersion

How much will I get sucked into this? Is there a story and do I care?

Nidhogg doesn't have much of story, but is surprisingly fun to make up your own with a friend. Thus the whole "I am the Nidhogg." thing was born. I will admot that once you've played three or four games on each map, there isn't much else to do. If you keep playing past that point, it has more to do with the friends you're playing with than the game itself.

3. Would I buy it?

Only if I were a social person who had groups of friends over to my place on a regular basis. It's a fantastic game for a group. You can have a tournment and get a little drunk. Thst being said... I am not very social and I rarely have people over. There is no point in my buying it when I can easily play it with Mike at his place.

So, there you have it. See you all on Monday.

Morons Preform Surgery!

So, recently Mike and I recorded Surgeon Simulator, which he decided to title Surgeon SiMoron... I'm not sure it's the best name, but I can't think of anything better. It's a little like playing Operation, but your patient can bleed out.. Also, you have the coordination of a drunk hippo. The whole thing is fairly ridiculous. As serious as we get. Surgeon simulator is insanely difficult, the controls are intentionally difficult and I suspect some aspects are just a touch buggy. I found it rather frustrating, but I'm notoriously inept at these sorts of games. Mike, who actually succeeds at the game and is normally the soul of patience said that at higher levels it pisses him off. That said, it's hilarious to watch. Even better take turns with friends while drunk and it just gets funnier. In Other News: updates for Moron Raider (Mike and Angela) and Moronshock (Mike and I). Upcoming: Super Amazing Moron Adventure with The Williams! As always, please let us know how we can improve the blog or Moron Town in general.

Behold!

So, I have been dubbed the official Moron Town Blogger. This is the very first post, duh... The intent is to talk a little about what goes on behind the scenes of the Moron Town videos, to review the games we are unable to record, and to communicate better with our audience. Status: The Blog is missing bits and pieces. Please feel free to let me know if there's anything in particular that you think would make it better. In other news, Mike and I spent time working on our latest game... Spore. Working title is Sporon. We cut the recording off once we reached tribal stage. We both felt that the game should have spent more time on evolution and less on civilization. The most recent video out is Moron Raider 16: You can't spell slaughter without laughter. That's all the news for now, the blog will update as needed. Reviews, constructive criticisms, and advice are all welcome! Keep an eye out for future videos, which may include NetHack, Nidhogg, Shovel Knight, and more!
