Moron Town
Hello to all... two of our followers. Clearly the subliminal brainwashing isn't working. Well, the truth is that I'm highly distractable. Sorry.
I will be trying something newish. Like actually blogging for a change. Mondays will follow the previous format, just to keep everyone up to date.Thursdaysare going to be different. Im going to actually spend time analyzing games. It'll focus on three main areas.
1. Playability
How hard is it for an absolute moron to play? What are the mechanics like?
For example, lets look at Nidhogg. This game was fairly confusing at first, we weren't sure who was playing which color and I never quite got the hang of figuring out when it was more expedient to charge accross the screen or fight my opponent. The controls were easy though, almost button-mashy.
2. Immersion
How much will I get sucked into this? Is there a story and do I care? Nidhogg doesn't have much of story, but is surprisingly fun to make up your own with a friend. Thus the whole "I am the Nidhogg." thing was born. I will admot that once you've played three or four games on each map, there isn't much else to do. If you keep playing past that point, it has more to do with the friends you're playing with than the game itself.3. Would I buy it?
Only if I were a social person who had groups of friends over to my place on a regular basis. It's a fantastic game for a group. You can have a tournment and get a little drunk. Thst being said... I am not very social and I rarely have people over. There is no point in my buying it when I can easily play it with Mike at his place.
So, there you have it. See you all on Monday.
